What Happened:

According to investigators, the other driver, James Mendias, 28, was allegedly driving under the influence. Law enforcement discovered open containers of alcohol and a canister of nitrous oxide inside the vehicle. Prosecutors have charged Mendias with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and he has pleaded not guilty. Tonia suffered fatal injuries, including a severed femoral artery, and tragically died before she could be transported to the hospital.
